Designing a Bedroom That is Practical for Your Everyday

Designing a Bedroom That is Practical for Your Everyday

As a parent, your bedroom should be a place you can retreat to after a long day. This means you want it to be stylish and beautiful, but your bedroom needs to be practical, too. As well as being a place of calm, it should also make your life easier, every day of the week.

Here is a guide to making your bedroom work for you.

Monday

Your day in the office has been tough. You’ve had a host of meetings and deadlines – all of this and it’s only Monday! You got home, spent time with your kids and now all you can think about is curling up with a good book.

Solution: Place a comfortable armchair complete with throws and a floor lamp, so you can escape to a cosy reading nook.

Tuesday

It’s only Tuesday, but your wash basket is overflowing. You’ve worked your way through several washes and now there are piles of clean clothes on your bed, but your wardrobe is bursting at the seams.

Solution: Add extra hidden storage by placing boxes under your bed or building your own DIY bed frame with shelves.

Wednesday

You’ve made it. You’re half way through the week. But you’ve been busy and it’s left you feeling sluggish. You need to recharge your batteries. To the bedroom!

Solution: Hang artwork that promotes relaxation. Choose soothing colours, ocean scenes, or landscapes to help you switch off.

Thursday

Your little one hasn’t been well. You raced from the office, collected them from school and spent the evening tending to their needs. Now, they’re sleeping, but you’re feeling exhausted. You need a restful night.

Solution: Blackout blinds or curtains. These will block out the light, helping you to drift off.

Friday

You’re working from home today as your little one is still unwell. They’re asleep and you’ve got calls you need to make.

Solution: Add a small desk to your bedroom. If you’re struggling for space, choose a folding desk.

Saturday

It’s Saturday and you’ve got a rare evening out planned. You’ve been looking forward to this all week. The grandparents are on their way and you’re going out for a romantic meal with your husband.

Solution: Buy a full-length mirror to help you pick the perfect outfit.

Sunday

It’s Sunday morning and your hubby has told you to stay in bed and relax – you’re not arguing with that! He treats you to breakfast in bed.

Solution: A bed tray will allow you to sit comfortably and enjoy your delicious breakfast.

From Monday to Sunday, these solutions have got you covered. What practical style tips have you used in your bedroom?
