Mums in Business featuring The Mindset Mum

This week for my Mums in Business series I’m excited to be featuring Claire who set-up and created The Mindset Mum; a business that is based on the Law of Attraction where Claire works as a mindset coach to encourage parents to embrace this philosophy with their children. For those of you don’t know what this is, it is the energies flowing through us that can help direct us to where we want to be in life or enhance particular elements of our lives. Claire’s vision is to pass this thinking onto our children through her skills she has gained in being a mindset coach. This all sounds really interesting and exciting, and you can find out why Claire is so passionate about this by reading her interview.

Tell me a little bit about you, your background and The Mindset Mum?

Hi! I am Claire MacGillivray, mum of 3 and online entrepreneur! I have a really cool job! I am a Law of Attraction coach specialising in working with parents. I fell into entrepreneurship around 4 years ago now, after my partner suffered a terrible accident at work which left him with a brain injury and unable to work, cue me, having to step up with no career under my belt to fall back on. I was going to have to start from scratch! When I fell pregnant with my youngest child in 2016, I lost all interest in my previous business, I fell ill and couldn’t face putting myself out there to be the face of my product range any more, I felt fake and disingenuous so decided to put it to the side until I got my health back. I enjoyed the break if I am honest, I enjoyed going out and not feeling like I should be talking to people about my product, I gave myself a free pass for a few months and it felt great. This was when I started to wonder what my bigger picture was, what was my souls purpose?

I had already embarked on the beginning of my spiritual journey when someone asked me to watch the Secret, oh my word, I was blown away, but also a bit sceptical! Despite my interest in the Law of Attraction all these years ago, I had no idea the power I had within me to change my circumstances, I did think that it was only something that a few people could do, and it wasn’t really for the likes of me, I never succeeded in anything, so the law of attraction wasn’t going to change that for me.

Well well well, if only I knew then, what I know now!

Claire who created The Mindset Mum

What were your drivers and motivations for setting up The Mindset Mum?

I had a massive breakthrough just before my youngest turned 1 earlier this year, I knew that I was destined for massive things, I just couldn’t’ figure out what it was yet, so I leaned on my spiritual ritual that I had developed and asked for clarity. I had a picture which represented clarity on my vision board and I looked at it every day, I believed that someday soon I would just know what my life’s purpose was and where my passion lies! I was in the spa one day with one on my dear friends, Sarah, and we were discussing all things spiritual and having a why that makes you cry, knowing what we wanted in our lives and all of a sudden she just turned to me and grabbed my arm, oh my god Claire, you should teach the law of attraction, your eyes light up when you talk about it, you have lived with it for years, you could change people’s lives by the way you deliver it, you put your unique spin on how you explain it. Can you imagine a cartoon right now and see the lightbulb ping above my head?! This was it, the defining moment in my business, it was at that moment The Mindset Mum was born.

How do you balance the business around family and childcare?

Running my business from our family home comes with it’s many challenges! Have you ever heard the quote” Do today what others won’t, so you can have tomorrow what others can’t?” I live my life by those words. I get up earlier in the morning, I work in the middle of the night, only if I have a launch approaching, I’m not totally off my head. My passion is my work, well I don’t see it as work, but as spreading the love. To know that I am helping parents all around the world to introduce their children to the law of attraction, literally makes my heart sing! That is what it is all about for me, giving children the understanding that everything they need to sustain their own happiness, success, fulfilment, love and joy, is within their own thoughts. That they get to decide who they want to become as they grow up, not what society tells them they can achieve because of where they live or what school they went to. Empowering children at the beginning of their lives, what better way to navigate this life we have the grace of living.

Since setting up the business what’s been your biggest success to date?

Since I started my business in Feb I have seen phenomenal growth, so much so that I am making plans and goals which I didn’t think would be on the table for at least another 2 yet! I’ll let you in on my biggest success though, and for fear of it sounding cliché, it is in my self-discovery. I have found my purpose, my passion and my gift and I am ready to get started making waves in the lives of families around the globe. The biggest thing that scares me the most at the moment, is writing a childrens book series using my teachings of the law of attraction in the underlying message. I have the story written in my head, the illustrator ready for my brief, I just need to get over the fear of what might happen when I launch this series! The good old fear of success!

What’s your top tip for Mums who are thinking about setting up their own business?

If you are reading this and seeing yourself in my story, what advice would I give you if you were sat across the table drinking coffee with me? My top 3 tips would be

  1. Meditate. 10 minutes a day will give you back hours of your life in productivity and concentration
  2. Write a daily journal and fill it with just the good stuff! Where focus goes, energy flows
  3. Find someone who is doing exactly what you want to do and shadow them, find out what they did to get to where they are and do the same.

Thank you so much Claire for taking part in my series, it has been great to read your story, and I wish you and your family all the best for the business in the future. You can find out more by joining The Mindset Mum Facebook group, visiting the website or YouTube.
