Lost Blogging Mojo…..Return to The Pramshed

Lost Blogging Mojo…..Return to The Pramshed

Earlier this week I lost my blogging mojo, I don’t know if it was the lovely sunny weather that caused it, or being too busy, or simply being overwhelmed with ideas I had no idea what to write about, so I ended up writing a blog post on really wanting a Pinafore dress – just to get my mind back into blogging. I do really want a Pinafore dress, but I’ve still not bought one.

I started thinking about what do I need to do, or think, to get myself back into blogging, how do I find the love for blogging that I had for the first three months of the year. I kept thinking and returning to why I set up my blog in the first place, the answer being to diarise life with my daughter. I feel that I have slightly shifted away from this over the past couple of weeks with other blogging activity happening – my Linky #fortheloveofBLOG going live, some product reviews and the #30daybloggingchallenge – which I am so behind on.

I decided that I needed to go back to my blog roots, and focus more on blog posts that capture life with my little one. I have found that these are my best posts, the most fun to write and often getting the most readership. Some of those posts include our brilliant week in Wales last month, the first #mummywin moments you have as a new mummy, and all about my daughter’s sleep or lack of.

There are some brilliant blog posts out there to give you blog ideas should you need them, like these two 101  blog ideas by Babi a Fi and Bloggers Block by You Baby Me Mumy

I will try to work harder and write more posts about us and life, as that is why I set up my blog in the first place. With the Summer coming up, me going back to work, and her starting nursery, I already have a lot of posts up my sleeve. My blog is busier than ever, so it’s important to have a schedule or at least try to stick to one, with a few posts lined up I’m going to try to schedule these, so should I lose my blogging mojo again I should have something to write about.

With this I think my blogging mojo is well and truly found for now.

I would love to hear what you do should you lose your blogging mojo.

Claire x

PS. Thank you to Tammymum for coming up with a headline for my blog post.

  1. Sarah - To Maternity and Beyond May 11, 2016 / 9:30 pm

I could have written this post – not only did I lose my blogging mojo a couple of weeks ago, I also REALLY WANT a pinafore dress (off to check out that post now!) Glad you found it again, I need to do the same xx

    • The Pramshed May 12, 2016 / 6:06 am

I need to buy one today! So many I’ve seen are now out of stock. I hope you’ve got your blogging mojo back now x

  2. babiesbiscuitsandbooze May 11, 2016 / 10:17 pm

Ah it’s hard sometimes, I always ‘fall back on’ diary style posts if I haven’t got anything to write about. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself, blogging should be fun!

    • The Pramshed May 12, 2016 / 6:07 am

Yep it should be, and I think I was losing sight of that x

  3. The Pramshed May 12, 2016 / 6:05 am

Don’t feel guilty hun, we have so many other priorities in our lives that must come first x

  4. Mummyitsok May 14, 2016 / 7:13 am

Same here, with blogging mojo! In the winter I was fine as its dark & cold now it’s summer I just want to go out in the sun #fortheloveofBLOG

    • The Pramshed May 14, 2016 / 9:20 pm

Thanks lovely, would choose the sun always ๐Ÿ™‚ x

  5. beautybabyandme May 14, 2016 / 7:13 am

Go easy on yourself hun – we all have times when we lose our blogging mojo and I think it’s best to wait until you’ve got something you want to write about passionately. Your readers will always be happy to wait for you to post when you’re ready – I know I would xxx #fortheloveofBLOG

    • The Pramshed May 14, 2016 / 9:20 pm

Thanks Fi! Definitely agree with that and thanks for your lovely comment ๐Ÿ™‚ x

  6. anywaytostayathome May 14, 2016 / 7:34 am

I think we’ve all been there. Sometimes just taking a week off is worthwhile. Last time I lost my way I did this and within three days of saying I’m taking a break and removing the pressure I had placed upon myself I was back writing with a new lease of life. I also keep half written ideas in my Google drive, so I don’t have to start from scratch if I can’t think of what I want to say. #fortheloveofBLOG

    • The Pramshed May 14, 2016 / 9:22 pm

That’s good to hear I need to be a little kinder to myself. I have so many half started blog posts in drafts, hopefully some will come to fruition ๐Ÿ™‚ x

  7. Emma - meandbmaketea May 14, 2016 / 7:38 am

pleased you have it back! life and linkies can get in the way ey ๐Ÿ˜‰ #fortheloveofBLOG

    • The Pramshed May 14, 2016 / 9:33 pm

So much gets in the way, life being more of a priority than Linky’s ๐Ÿ™‚ x

  8. Nadia - ScandiMummy May 14, 2016 / 7:44 am

I can very much relate to this. In the late summer of last year I felt exactly the same. I’m still guilty of not writing enough about us as a family which was the point of the blog in the first place, but on the other hand so many lovely opportunities have presented themselves, so it can be hard to keep on top of everything. I’m so glad you got your mojo back, and there’s nothing wrong with a post about a pinafore dress! I now want one too ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for hosting #fortheloveofBLOG

    Nadia – ScandiMummy x

    • The Pramshed May 14, 2016 / 9:35 pm

I still haven’t bought one – I need to, before they sell out. Thank you for your lovely comment. I love all the opportunities with blogging, it kind of gives me a purpose, if you know what I mean ๐Ÿ™‚ x

  9. Baby Anon May 14, 2016 / 8:47 am

Glad you got it back. I often get writer’s block and then all of a sudden I will find it, often in the middle of the night. Mother writes poetry and finds she gets her best rhymes in the car – and then has to hurriedly remember it all at the other end. Inspiration can strike at funny times can’t it? #fortheloveofBLOG

    • The Pramshed May 14, 2016 / 9:43 pm

It can, I sometimes write blog posts in my head at 3am, only for them to have gone in the morning. Really should write it down ๐Ÿ™‚ x

  10. Mrs Lighty May 14, 2016 / 7:49 am

I hate it when I lose my blogging mojo, I hope yours comes back soon. #fortheloveofBLOG

    • The Pramshed May 14, 2016 / 9:35 pm

Thank you lovely, it certainly has ๐Ÿ™‚ x

  11. Jane Taylor May 14, 2016 / 8:57 am

    Hi Claire
Thanks for sharing this. With me, I have ideas but faff around and lose confidence about which ones to go with and get so hung up on getting the right balance on my blog. Because I only started this year and my loves are interiors, moneysaving, creative things, organising, decluttering and RANDOM STUFF (I love writing about random stuff!), I feel compelled to try and make sure that I have a balance of all of these…As time goes on it won’t seem as important as I will have a decent number of posts in each category…At the moment I have 1 creative post!!! That’s because all of my creativity has gone into building and working on the flippin’ blog ๐Ÿ˜‰

I don’t know about you but in the early days it takes ages to write a post…Not necessarily the body of it but all of the tagging and SEOing and excerpt writing and linking and social media-ing (totally a word!) and that stops me from writing sometimes as I see it as a ginormous mountain to climb!

I have copied the links you share about blogging ideas and I will definitely have a look at them.

Here’s to keeping your blogging mojo!

    • The Pramshed May 15, 2016 / 5:14 am

Hi Jane, thanks for your lovely comment, I agree with you that you need to write about what inspires you, what drives you. Sometimes life gets in the way of the blog, and it’s not always possible to spend the amount of time on it, you want to spend. Don’t worry about little creative posts, one piece of advice I took from someone was your blog is always there so you can keep going back to it, as little or as often as you like ๐Ÿ™‚ x

  12. Kiri May 14, 2016 / 8:06 am

Real life ends up getting in the way and before I known it days have gone by and I’ve not done anything blog related. Sometimes I get overwhelmed too with so many ideas it’s like a bottleneck effect and I end up with lots of ideas but no finished posts. I try and set myself a couple of achievable goals each day or week so that when I do have time to spend on blogging, it’s focused on those one or two goals and I don’t waste the time scrolling Twitter or starting yet another draft post that won’t get finished!

    • The Pramshed May 14, 2016 / 9:37 pm

Same here, but I am so distracted with Twitter (need to stop myself from looking at it) ๐Ÿ™‚ x

  13. manstayshome May 14, 2016 / 8:11 am

Thanks for sharing. I usually find that looking through photos will give me something to write about. Or I’ll look for news stories and issues around the websites.

    Glad you rediscovered your mojo!

    • The Pramshed May 14, 2016 / 9:37 pm

That’s a good way to give ideas, thanks for your lovely comment ๐Ÿ™‚ x

  14. Franjones May 14, 2016 / 8:22 am

Great post and something I relate to. I’m spending a lot of time at the moment mulling over my blog and where I should go with it. Other days I’m ready to give up!! #fortheloveofblog

    • The Pramshed May 14, 2016 / 9:38 pm

No don’t say that lovely, please don’t give up. Give it a few days, and hopefully a clearer head will help ๐Ÿ™‚ X

  15. Azaria Lynch (@beingMrsLynch) May 14, 2016 / 8:25 am

I often lose my blogging mojo. I really think just sometimes life gets in the way and I have no time to concentrate on the blog and as much as I love it I don’t want it to get in the way of family life. I have my schedule set out for the next couple of months though so hopefully will stay on track.

    Azaria- Being Mrs Lynch

    • The Pramshed May 14, 2016 / 9:39 pm

Wow a schedule set out for a couple of months that’s amazing, I can’t see beyond next weekend at then moment, just need to plan it all in ๐Ÿ™‚ x

  16. Nursery Whines May 14, 2016 / 8:37 am

I am glad you have your mojo back. When I have lost mine I do the same as you have done, blog what is on my mind, readers love to hear what you are really feeling, and I find comments telling me I am not alone really help me through. Thanks for starting the linky, it’s great. #fortheloveof BLOG

    • The Pramshed May 14, 2016 / 9:43 pm

Thank you lovely, I agree with that, I think those sort of posts tend to make for the more honestly written posts. Glad you’re enjoying the Linky, it’s great to have positive feedback ๐Ÿ™‚ x

  17. laughing mum May 14, 2016 / 8:52 am

It is hard to find time for everything, I agree a schedule is a great idea! I haven’t faced that problem yet of losing my mojo (I’m still very new) but I do make notes on my phone if I have a moment of ‘this would make a great post’ and as yet I haven’t had to go back to use them but they will be there should I need some inspiration. #fortheloveofblog

    • The Pramshed May 14, 2016 / 9:44 pm

Thank you for your lovely comment, I have an old fashioned pen and paper to write my ideas on, and I have so many half posts in drafts ๐Ÿ™‚ x

  18. letyourlightshinemummy May 14, 2016 / 8:58 am

You gave me such great advice last week, of keep doing what I’m doing best, being a Mummy, and the same goes for you. Your a great blogger, don’t give yourself a hard time. It is good to know we all go through this though. xxx #fortheloveofBLOG

    • The Pramshed May 15, 2016 / 5:15 am

Thank you for your lovely comments Vicky! : x

  19. fairyqueen May 14, 2016 / 8:59 am

Yeah, I agree, blogging is your fun outlet, enjoy yourself and write about something random after having a glass of wine spice it up!:)

    mainy – myrealfairy

    • The Pramshed May 15, 2016 / 5:16 am

Ha ha! I wish I could write a post after a glass of wine, but I’m usually half a sleep ๐Ÿ™‚ x

  20. Rebecca | AAUBlog May 14, 2016 / 9:01 am

I think taking some timeout is important if you need it. Sometimes I can be lost in a sea of reviews and sponsored posts and forget about the ‘from the heart’ writing x #fortheloveofBLOG

    • The Pramshed May 15, 2016 / 5:20 am

Completely agree with you, thanks for your lovely comment ๐Ÿ™‚ x

  21. Mess and merlot May 14, 2016 / 9:30 am

I think scheduling definitely helps but yes sometimes it’s difficult when life gets in the way and blogging becomes a chore. It’s hard to find a balance between working on the blog and family life, I still haven’t quite figured that out yet! #fortheloveofBLOG

    • The Pramshed May 15, 2016 / 5:21 am

I think you’re hit the nail of head, by saying about blogging “being a chore” that’s kind of how I felt last week – like I couldn’t be bothered, putting it on the same level as the hoovering – lol! Balance is key ๐Ÿ™‚ x

  22. Ali Duke May 14, 2016 / 9:39 am

It is hard sometimes isn’t it. I have struggled this week as I have had a few things on so have only managed one post. But today I am spending some time with my daughter, I am sure that will give me lots of inspiration x

    • The Pramshed May 15, 2016 / 5:22 am

I hope you find inspiration from your day with your daughter. Family and life take priority ๐Ÿ™‚ x

  23. The Mum Project May 14, 2016 / 10:07 am

I’m going back to work as well and you’re right, I need to start making a schedule for blogging as life will just be even more busy! But then that means there will be more material to write about. : ) I loved the post about #mummywins : ) #fortheloveofBlog

    • The Pramshed May 15, 2016 / 5:46 am

Good luck going back to work, it’ll be interesting to see what happens with my blog then, as I’ll have so little time, or more time. Yes you’re right it gives you more material. Thank you for your lovely comment on my #mummywins post ๐Ÿ™‚ x

  24. jaxbest May 14, 2016 / 11:43 am

I think this happens to every blogger at some stage. Going back to work can be a rough one, and finding the time to blog as well! Wishing you all the best! Looking forward to those posts you have up your sleeve! #fortheloveofblog

    • The Pramshed May 15, 2016 / 5:48 am

Thank you lovely, it will be hard but we will so adapt to a new routine ๐Ÿ™‚ x

  25. thetaleofmummyhood May 14, 2016 / 11:56 am

The sun has been glorious this week, I do find it difficult to focus when it’s like that as I want to be out in it! Glad to hear you have found your mojo! Happy blogging ๐Ÿ™‚

    • The Pramshed May 15, 2016 / 5:48 am

Sun over blogging any day! It’s not here enough so we need to enjoy it whilst we can, the blog on the otherhand is always here ๐Ÿ™‚ x

  26. justsayingmum May 14, 2016 / 12:22 pm

Oh Claire, I could have written this exact post they week – totally lost my mojo this week and had to do what you did which is remind myself of why I started. I thunk i’m a little overwhelmed with just how massive blogging can be – I feel a little foolish now that I had no idea about the blogging world – as much as I love it Im also going to admit that I find it a bit nuts on occasion. Great post though lovely – please get your Mojo back cos you’re fab! #fortheloveofBLOG

    • The Pramshed May 15, 2016 / 5:50 am

Same here, its so easy to become overwhelmed especially with the #tribalchat chat, hearing about what everyone is up to, makes me want to be part of it too, adding pressure to blogging. I think my blogging mojo is back Helen – yay! Thanks for your lovely comment ๐Ÿ™‚ x

      • justsayingmum May 15, 2016 / 7:34 am

I completely understand lovely but glad your mojo back lovely xx

  27. mumworkrepeat May 14, 2016 / 12:24 pm

I’m new to the world of blogging and had only written a few before I had a moment of “what am I doing” and “why am I doing it”, as if life isn’t busy enough anyway! Then I realised why put myself under pressure, just do it as and when I feel like it. Pleased you’ve got your mojo back

    • The Pramshed May 15, 2016 / 5:51 am

I think my blogging mojo is back hun, we shouldn’t put pressure on ourselves from our blog, there’s enough pressures in daily life. I need to take some advice from myself ๐Ÿ™‚ x

  28. Busy Working Mummy May 14, 2016 / 12:27 pm

I get so overwhelmed by it all at times and sometimes do have to take a step back. I try and post 3 times a week, but I have been so busy at work the past few weeks, I found myself getting really stressed that I couldn’t keep up. That is when you know it is time to take a few days out to bring yourself back to life #fortheloveofBLOG

    • The Pramshed May 15, 2016 / 5:51 am

Oh no we shouldn’t get stressed by our blog, as our blog is always there, but I know exactly what you mean. Time out is great to regain focus ๐Ÿ™‚ x

  29. min1980 May 14, 2016 / 2:37 pm

I think we all lose our blogging mojo from time to time! Blogging can be a bit up and down, the same as anything else, and there are times when our minds are just on other things. I’m sure you’ll get your mojo back soon. #fortheloveofBLOG

    • The Pramshed May 15, 2016 / 5:53 am

Thanks Min, I think it’s back! It’s difficult when there’s so much happening, along with tiredness too. ๐Ÿ™‚ x

  30. Kate Orson May 14, 2016 / 2:59 pm

it sounds like a great idea to go back and connect with the roots of what your blog is all about, to focus on what you’re passionate about writing, and what readers like.
I lost my blogging mojo a bit a few days ago and what I found so helpful was to just chill at home for a few days, and not to do any writing. I also gave up caffeine for 4 days (I couldn’t manage anymore!) It really helped me to slow down life completely, and to write when I had the urge, rather than look at my half-finished blog drafts and feeling like I ‘had’ to finish them.
Funnily enough I noticed that my daughter was being incredibly creative on our lazy days. She had all kinds of ideas about making a theatre for a puppet show and a sleigh on wheels! So if I ever get that feeling again I’m definitely going to slow down rather than try and force myself to write. #fortheloveofBLOG

    • The Pramshed May 15, 2016 / 7:59 am

That’s a good tip to give yourself a break, and also to give up caffeine too – I think that slowing down is definitely helpful, and it’s create that it helped find your creativity. Thank you for your lovely comment ๐Ÿ™‚ x

  31. Nadine (@caringchaos) May 14, 2016 / 6:03 pm

I love this – I too have to go back to my blogging roots! being around such inspirational bloggers like yourself (!) I sometimes loose focus in not wanting to miss out! But I have to write for me and whatever follows is a bonus xx

    • The Pramshed May 15, 2016 / 8:01 am

Thanks Nadine that’s lovely for you to say that ๐Ÿ™‚ I think with blogging you need to follow your heart, and yes I agree with you on not wanting to miss out – it’s a bit competitive isn’t it? ๐Ÿ™‚ x

  32. ljdove23 May 14, 2016 / 6:39 pm

I often lose my blogging mojo but I try not to beat myself up about it. I would much rather wait until the feeling takes me than force myself to write something that my heart isn’t really in. I find that when I really am stuck, I try and do something fun, an interview with one of the children, a question and answer session, anything just to spur me into thinking as a writer again! The sunshine is too good to miss though, I won’t be writing anything while it lasts!! #fortheloveofBLOG

    • The Pramshed May 15, 2016 / 8:02 am

I love the interviews with your children, as they are fab posts to keep readers interested. Sunshine over blogging any day, the sunshine in this country is so few and far between so you need to enjoy it, and don’t forget your blog is always there ๐Ÿ™‚ x

  33. Rebecca May 14, 2016 / 8:24 pm

So pleased you found your mojo! A great post! It is reassuring to read as a new blogger in awe of all of you experienced bloggers. Thank you for hosting the linky! #fortheloveofBLOG

  34. Something About Baby May 14, 2016 / 7:25 pm

I think every blogger loses their mojo at some point – I did over Christmas, I think I had TOO much to write about and couldn’t get my ideas straight to write anything! It did come back though, as will yours! #fortheloveofBLOG

    • The Pramshed May 15, 2016 / 8:03 am

Well done, I can see Xmas being a time that you would lose your blogging mojo with so much excitement going on around you, and being so busy too ๐Ÿ™‚ x

  35. marmeemarch May 14, 2016 / 7:43 pm

I have only just started my blog and am full of ideas, although I think keeping in mind why you started your blog is a good idea I will try to keep in mind. I may come back to this post if/when I lose enthusiasm in the future. Thanks for sharing #fortheloveofBLOG

    • The Pramshed May 15, 2016 / 8:04 am

Good luck with your blog lovely, looking forward to reading your blog posts ๐Ÿ™‚ x

  36. Lisa Robb (@workingmumy) May 14, 2016 / 8:02 pm

I go through phases where i blog constantly. Then its like i get overwhelmed as i have all this stuff i want to blog about and videos i want to make along with running a house, full time work, being pregnant and looking after my 3 year old, and i just lose it. I always eventually get it back. It can always just be a bit much at times.
    Great post

  37. Hannah G, The 'Ordinary' Mum May 14, 2016 / 8:32 pm

I’m glad you’ve found your mojo again, I got myself in a bit of a ‘funk’ last week but I think that was more down to having lots to write but no time as littles have decided to yet again fight sleep. However reading this has given me a boost ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for hosting lovely #fortheloveofBLOG x

  38. Jakijellz May 14, 2016 / 9:04 pm

I think it happens to most of us, it certainly does me!! I’ve done well to keep going this long, but I do find getting some posts written and scheduled definitely helps, I find I write better when there is less pressure.
    Thanks for sharing #fortheloveofBLOG

  39. KG May 14, 2016 / 10:41 pm

Yep, I hear you! I’ve been the same these past few weeks. I’ve been questioning the whole blogging thing if I’m honest, but that’s a whole other conversation! I’m now off to read your pinafore dress post… thank you ๐Ÿ˜‰ #fortheloveofBLOG

  40. Memeandharri May 15, 2016 / 7:21 am

Oh I feel your pain – I haven’t lost my blogging mojo as such but I have lost (in fact I’m not sure if I ever had it in the first place) my twitter and promoting my blog mojo – I just really struggle with it!! All I want is to have a successful blog without promoting it – seriously is that too much to ask??? xxx

  41. Lauren May 15, 2016 / 12:42 pm

I’m glad your mojo has been found safe and sound!
My mojo is slightly unreliable- I thank #fortheloveofBLOG for it’s existence because otherwise I might not have posted at all thanks to being busy or weather or just general things!
p.s you absolutely definitely need one of those dresses!x

  42. Mrs T (@SothisismeMrsT) May 15, 2016 / 12:48 pm

hiya I felt a bit lost this week wasn’t sure what to write about but I’m sure it will come back. Thanks for linking up the blog posts with ideas ill definitely pop over there and make some notes. Hope your mojo returns xx #fortheloveofBLOG

  43. Tracey @ One Frazzled Mum May 15, 2016 / 7:45 pm

I have lost my mojo too. I am finding it so hard to write I am getting really stressed about it. Glad yours came back I’ve put out a wanted poster for mine

    • The Pramshed May 15, 2016 / 8:43 pm

Don’t get stressed lovely, it will come back I’m sure ๐Ÿ™‚ x

  44. carolcliffe May 15, 2016 / 10:24 pm

I’m feeling it too – I’ve gone from keen new blogger to falling behind in my plans and linkies as life gets in the way, and asking myself if I can really do this. I’m sure I’ll find my blogging mojo again too (I hope!), as you have done this week. I guess we all have ups and downs – that’s life. Well done on your great new linky #ForTheLoveOfBLOG

  45. Double the Monkey Business May 16, 2016 / 6:46 am

I have definitely lost it at times. I work on the basis of waiting for inspiration to strike, unfortunately some weeks it doesnt ๐Ÿ™ I often worry about if I have enough material to keep my blog interesting #fortheloveofBLOG

  46. mindfulmummy May 16, 2016 / 6:40 pm

Loved this post when I read it a few days ago and don’t know why I didn’t comment then so so pleased #fortheloveofBLOG is making me feel more bold about leaving comments. I haven’t lost my blogging mojo yet as I am such a newbie but I do understand the quandary about the purpose of blogging. I’m still not really sure why I am adding another extra thing to my hectic schedule and yet I am really enjoying it. For me blogging is really helping me stay committed to being mindful by blogging about it but the irony is it leaves me less time to practice any mindful meditations! Anyway, I will let you know when I’ve worked out my purpose of blogging but in the mean time I am happy to be getting to know some lovely ladies (and men) through reading their blogs. Love the post’s title btw.

  47. Paranoid Working Parent May 16, 2016 / 7:51 pm

It is nice to know that everyone loses the mojo once in a while. Sometimes I don’t have any ideas and then one pops into my head. I’ve started jotting the odd reminder word in my notepad at work, just so I don’t forget about it. ๐Ÿ™‚ So glad you co-created #fortheloveofBLOG

I haven’t even been blogging for long and I still feel like I am too busy, and have often lost my blogging mojo! #fortheloveofblog

.รขโ‚ฌยIf people want a fresh break from the disaster of the Bush Administration, but are not confident about the ability of O to bring change and keep the nation strong, M can take advantage of the situation. Over the weekend, M seemed to do everything short of burning Bu-sh (Bu-sh-it??) in effigy and calling him to stand trial as a war criminal. As September goes on and M keeps up his insults of Bu-sh-it, it wil be harder for O to persuasively argue that M is another Bu-sh-it. We shall see.

When I lose my blogging mojo I focus on other people’s blogs by highlighting their work as part of Blogs of the Week post. Explaining what it is about the post is special goes beyond a re tweet and also helps remind me of what inspires or interests me.

I also use the WordPress daily prompts as a jumping off point. Some of my best posts have come out of a single word challenge.
