Ten Places To Visit For An Adventure Filled Honeymoon

After many months of wedding planning, you deserve your honeymoon. All some people want to do is chill out on a beach somewhere hot, sip on cocktails and be waited on hand and foot. Others need a bit of adrenaline pumping through their veins, and a relaxing beach holiday is just not going to cut it.  Here, we look at some locations that will really get the blood racing through your veins – from Moroccan desert treks to swimming with sharks in Australia.

Swim with sharks in Australia

Visit Fiji, Mexico, Thailand and various other places around the world, and you can get up close and personal to these incredible creatures. However, more often than not, this is not done in a sustainable fashion, putting both the environment and the sharks themselves at risk. Fear not, however, as at the Ningaloo Reef in Western Australia you can swim with sharks, knowing that you are doing it safely and not harming them. It is one of the most pristine and intact coral reefs left in the world and is carefully regulated by the government to ensure it stays that way. It is remote and quiet, giving you the chance to experience this extraordinary landscape at it’s very best. Time it right, and you may even be able to swim in the middle of a humpback whale migration!

Trek through the desert in Morocco

Put down the phones, let go of the home comforts and go totally off-grid on a Moroccan desert trek. Despite being a popular tourist location, much of the Sahara desert remains untapped by tourists and visitors, allowing you to feel completely connected with both your loved one and the environment you are surrounded by. As well as the traditional camel rides, many camps offer buggy rides and even dune surfing, if you are looking for something a little more fast-paced.

Hike or bike through the Scottish Highlands

The Scottish Highlands aren’t given enough credit as a honeymoon destination. It might lack the glorious sunshine and golden beaches of other locations, but if you want something more than lounging on a beach, you will fall in love with the raw beauty of this area. From challenging climbs and descents to make your heart race, whiskey distilleries aplenty, it is not hard to get caught up in the romance of this rugged and weatherbeaten location

Trek through an African jungle

It is about as far from chilling on the beach as you can get, but if you are looking to create the memories of a lifetime, you can’t get much better! Pay a visit to the Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda, where experienced guides can lead you through the humid and dense jungles filled with wildlife, and rewarding you with a face to face encounter with endangered African gorillas. Make sure you look for a company that offers sustainable tours.
