As the title says; She walks. Today our daughter took her first steps whilst we were playing chase the toy phone around the living room. Today was a proud mummy moment that nearly brought a tear to my eye. For those of you who have been following my blog and Instagram Stories will know that I had many concerns a couple of months ago that at the age of 13-months our daughter was not walking independently. This concern was flagged to me by our nursery and at the time I didn’t think too much about it, she was only 13-months old and a Twitter pole I set revealed that it wasn’t too unusual for children to start walking at 15 or 16-months old. Phew! However we soon got to 17-months and our daughter was happily walking around the house with a toy walker and coasting the furniture. She just wouldn’t let go. Well today was a success. We had been to the park earlier with some of my NCT friends and their children. Children who were walking confidently and running around. I wonder having seen these children splashing in puddles gave our daughter the encouragement and confidence that she needed to take her first steps tonight. Who knows, or maybe she was just ready to show-off to us that she can do it. Tonight was a proud moment for us. It goes to show that children develop at different rates. They achieve their milestones at different times, and it’s not always as simple as meeting a milestone on a list. Tomorrow I will enjoy telling the nursery that our daughter took her first unaided steps today. Claire x
