7 reasons to buy your child a tablet

One issue parents today have to deal with, is whether or not they should let their children have their own tablets and devices, and when it’s the right time to do it. When we were kids, we had toy laptops when we were three. Now, three-year-olds sit playing on iPads and tablets, with full access to the internet.

While this is perhaps a little young for complete access, buying your child their own kids tablet, with parental controls and restrictions on their usage can be a great thing. Helping their development and enriching their lives in many different ways. Here are 7 reasons why you should consider buying your child their own device this year.

There’s Loads of Kids Content

If your primary concern is that your kids will have access to inappropriate content, there is no need to worry. You can easily restrict what they can do and see, and there is that much kid’s content out there, they’ll never need more. Safe Kids App, kids games, videos, educational content and kid safe web sites are plentiful and easy to find. You can even add content to your child’s homepage, so they never need to venture out onto the web themselves.

To Boost Creativity

Creativity is incredibly important to a child’s development. It’s their way to express themselves and learn about the world around them. A tablet gives them an extra way to explore their creativity and discover new forms of expression.

To Increase Communication

Nowadays families rarely all live close together. Grandparents can easily be in another city or country. Having a tablet gives children a new way to communicate with their loved ones. They’ll feel special, grown up and loved when they get a call or message on their very own device.

To Show Them That Learning is Fun

Many educational apps and games on tablets are also fun. Young children can worry about going to school and learning, or moving up to new classes. A tablet reinforces the idea that learning isn’t boring, it’s great fun.

To Encourage Independent Learning

Tablets also support independent learning. Children often only learn things with the help and encouragement of an adult. On a tablet, they go off and learn things on their own. This is a great skill to develop.

To Give Them a Head Start

Even if you did want to avoid too much technology at home, they will come across it at school. Tablets, laptops and the internet are now a much bigger part of school life, even in the early years. So, buying your child a tablet now gives them a head start once they’re at school. It’ll be something they are already familiar with.

To Improve Their Language

Playing different games and exploring various websites and videos means your children are exposed to more vocabulary and language. You’ll be amazed at how quickly they pick new words up when they come from something that they enjoy.

Of course, there is also the added bonus that you might get a little time to yourself. Buying them a tablet doesn’t make you a bad mother anymore than the occasional Mcdonald’s tea does. You’re just moving with the times.

Have you bought your child a tablet? Or do they use yours? Or are you against them using tablets until they’re older. I would love to hear from you.
