Week in Review #8
I can’t believe that my blog is nearly 2 months old! When I set my blog up I didn’t really know what to expect, but here I am 8 weeks in and really enjoying being part of the parent blogger community. I like writing these weekly posts, as it says how long I’ve been blogging for as well as creating a weekly diary. Here’s a look back at the last week:
Dad’s 60th Birthday
Last week it was my Dad’s 60th Birthday, so the main focus of the week was celebrating this with the family. We had two celebrations one in London and one back at home in Cambridge. The first of the celebrations was meeting up with Mum and Dad in central London for lunch, we visited Hix Soho and enjoyed their set menu. The food was amazing, I enjoyed a Beet and Goats cheese starter, Salt Beef for main, and a chocolate mousse for dessert, and I shared a carafe of white wine with my Dad. Our little one was also fairly well behaved too, but refused to eat any of her food until we got home.
It was also the first time I had taken her on the tube (not the Overground or the train), she enjoyed this so much by falling asleep on both journeys. Taking a buggy on the tube is very different to a normal commute, you have to follow different signs to the lifts, and often end up walking much further in the underground station to get out.
The second celebration was going home to Cambridge for the weekend to celebrate with my parents, my sister and her boyfriend, and my brother and his fiance. It was a double celebration as my sister and her boyfriend were back from 4 months travelling in Asia before heading off for another 3 months travelling in South America. We celebrated by going to a local restaurant in a village outside Cambridge where again we enjoyed delicious food. I had baked Camembert for starter (yes I love cheese), followed by a leg of lamb that my husband and I shared as our main course, and then we had birthday cake for dessert. We surprised my Dad by bringing the cake to the restaurant and singing Happy Birthday.
For my Dad’s presents there was even more surprises with my brother and I treating our Mum and Dad to a weekend away in Bruges later this year. My Dad was pretty overwhelmed with the presents and our generosity, which made the weekend very special.
National Trust visit – Angelsey Abbey
As well as celebrating my Dad’s 60th Birthday we also managed to squeeze in a visit to a National Trust property, making use of our membership. We visited Angelsey Abbey, a large National Trust site in a small village in Cambridgeshire. Here you can visit both the house and gardens, but as we had the buggy with us we stuck to the gardens. The gardens are beautiful even in the winter, I can imagine in summer they are even more impressive! We wandered through trees and plants, and along the river to the old mill. What’s nice about this property is that there are so many paved paths making it ideal for the buggy, even off the paved paths the tracks are manageable. I’m looking forward to a visit in the Summer with a picnic.
Rolling across the room
It’s official. Our little one can move. I left the room one morning last week, and came back to find her underneath the table. She can only roll for now, but it has made me realise that I need to start baby proofing asap. It also means that she is increasingly rolling onto her toys and hurting herself -mainly her head.
That’s it, have a great week all.

Happy birthday to your Dad and well done on making the most of your National Trust membership, ours expired last month and we hadn’t used it nearly enough #abitofeverything

Ah no that’s annoying, I can see how easily it is to not use it, with so many other things taking up the time. Thanks for reading and commenting. Claire x

Ahh, another little roller. My munchkin is starting to roll, thankfully not far yet but it’s almost time to start panicking! We’ve started babyproofing but it’s mainly been cleaning and chucking stuff away… Let the fun begin! I’m a fairly new to blogging regularly so I hear you on the consecutive posts!

What a lovely birthday celebration! Happy Birthday to your Dad! The food sounds amazing. And a roller! I remembered when my #1 tried to roll and couldn’t and I had to help gently push him so he could. Thanks for being a part of and sharing with #abitofeverything
The Pramshed
Thank you we had a great couple of days! I’m sure I might have to do the push too, although scarily I can put her up against something and she can hold herself up in a standing position. I’ll be back next week for #abitofeverything thanks for hosting. Claire x

Happy 2 months 🙂 you are much braver than me with regards to the underground. I think in Monkeys 3.5/4 years we have only taken in twice I remember the first time with a buggy as so painful (we are natural commuters as I work at London Bridge when I need to be in town) that it really put us off as the lifts are not well sign posted!! Sounds like your dad had a great celebration. Cambridge is on our destination list this Summer for a long weekend so will keep the National Trust property in mind. Thank you for joining us at #BloggerClubUK hope to see you again next week x
The Pramshed
Thank you! Yes the first trip into town was so painful with little one screaming there and back. Snap I also commute into London Bridge. I’ll be joining you next week for #BloggerClubUK. Have a great weekend, Claire x
