Blogger Recognition Award

A couple of week’s ago I was nominated for the Blogger Recognition Award by Aleena at Mummy Mama Mum. I had never heard of this award or tag before, and I was keen to find out what it meant. So I swiftly headed off to read Aleena’s post, and I really liked the sound of this tag.

The purpose of the tag is share with your reader’s the reasons why you set up your blog, and then to offer two pieces of blogging advice. I’m really excited to share with you a little more insight and advice from The Pramshed.

First of all here’s the tag rules:

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  • Write a post to show your award.
  • Give a brief story of how your blog started.
  • Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
  • Select 15 other bloggers you want to give this award to.

Why The Pramshed?

I set-up my blog just over a year ago when I was on maternity leave. Entering a new year, and with 6-months left before I had to return to work I knew I needed to do something other than go for walks, sit in coffee shops drinking lattes and eating cakes. The idea to create a blog was conjured up on one of my many walks around the parks, and that evening my first post was written and my blog was live. I had no followers, and no social media  channels set up. So you can say that I dived in head first, and I’ve learnt how to make it a success over the past year.

I still have a long way to go, but this time last year I had no idea what a Linky was, or what DA means. Now I have a blog which I love. I co-host a Linky that I love. I have brands emailing me about reviews, and I have a holiday on the horizon. All because of the blog.

But that doesn’t answer my question; Why The Pramshed? Well the name came about after going to a well-known London restaurant with a very similar name before any thoughts about blogging existed. When I told my husband I wanted to set up a blog, he suggested the name, having overheared the waiting staff in the restaurant joking it should be called The Pramshed due to a number of buggies in the restaurant at the time.

My two pieces of blogging advice

Go for it, don’t be afraid

When I set up my blog I just went for it. There wasn’t a great deal of planning involved. I had no social channels. I only created these once my blog was live. I then started following people on Twitter, and then moved onto Facebook and Instagram. Your blog is your blog. It should contain posts that you want to write about it. Don’t be afraid of what other people think about it. That was one of my fears, and in reality friends and family are genuinely really interested and supportive. Just remember you never know where it may take you, or what it might lead to. Don’t be afraid. Go for it.

Socialise

Following on from that; Socialise. Talk to other bloggers on social media. Join Linkies. We are all a friendly bunch, and it is one of the best ways to make your blog known. Keep sharing your posts on Twitter and Facebook. Join Instagram and Facebook pods so that you have to comment on other blogger’s posts, but also so they comment on yours. Attend blogging conferences, they are scary, but a great way to meet people (and brands). I cannot emphasis how important it is to engage other bloggers, they will support you, help you to craft blog content, and share your posts.

That’s my top tips for blogging.
